Women accessing responsible credit

Kaya FM’s Tsepiso Makwetla and EasyPay Everywhere’s Kenosi Rakosa discuss the importance of providing women with the access they need to safe, responsible credit solutions. Women in SA still face barriers when it comes to accessing relevant and responsible financial and credit solutions. Barriers include issues relating to access to work, the gender pay gap, physical access to solutions and support as well as time restrictions, work and family demands.

Historically, structural, and societal barriers have excluded women from actively or fully participating in financial empowerment initiatives. Sadly, women are also still more vulnerable to forms of economic abuse, which holds them back from being financially included or becoming more financially independent. Tshepiso asks – are we doing enough to protect and support women in our society?

Kenosi reminds us that there is still much work to be done – and at EasyPay Everywhere, we’ve worked to design financial products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers, especially women who make up much of our base. We know women are time poor and may not be able to travel far to branches – so we’ve made solutions accessible conveniently and remotely for those who need it. We’ve designed our lending products to be safer, using affordability testing and helping ensure customers avoid becoming over-indebted. We’ve listened to our customers and adjusted our products to better meet their needs. EasyPay Loans are designed to be safe, affordable and accessible to those who need a simple, safer loan – the easy way.
